Why MRCP?

MRCP(UK) delivers membership that are recognised across the world as benchmarks of medical knowledge, clinical experience and continued professional development of doctors. The MRCP(UK) is considered as an entry level qualification towards higher specialist training for doctors in UK. MRCP(UK) has been recognised by Medical council of India(MCI) and a medical practitioner equipped with MRCP(UK) is entitled to work as a physician in India.

What is MRCP?

MRCP(UK), a post graduate qualification awarded by the Royal College of Physicians in UK (RCP-UK) after clearing two levels of written examinations (MRCP part1 and MRCP part 2) and a third test of clinical skills(MRCP PACES). The examinations are conducted by the Federation of the Medical Royal Colleges – the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. MRCP(UK)  is principally designed to assess the clinical knowledge and skills of trainees in internal medicine in the UK. Over the years, the exams have gained popularity amongst international graduates and is now being conducted in different centres worldwide. MRCP(UK) graduate physicians can subscribe as "collegiate members" to any or all of the three UK Royal Colleges of Physicians.

Where is the MRCP clinical examination to be given and what is the cost?

The MRCP(UK) examinations can be taken all over the world. Candidates have the opportunity to sit the MRCP(UK) written examinations in 34 international locations and the MRCP(UK) clinical examination (PACES) in 16 different locations. The SCEs can also be taken at test centres globally.

Candidates may also apply to any of MRCP UK centres providing they are able to arrange for the appropriate visa requirements to be met in advance of the examination.

How to prepare for MRCP Examination?

The Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) is a postgraduate diploma in internal medicine in the United Kingdom.

There are various options to get ready for your MRCP examinations. Some common strategies are:

A. Taking part in mock examinations often.

B. Taking a specility based path: Plan a study schedule and answer questions on each speciality in a tailor-made session. Review them well before the examination date. 

C. Talking a syllabus based approach: If time permits it is best to go through the syllabus in details providing a thorough knowledge base for a future career in Medicine. Past paper practice is the key for a succesful atempt for the examination.

MRCP Exam Eligibility

The MRCP(UK) part 1 : Part 1 is the entry-level examination accessible to doctors with a minimum of 12 months' postgraduate experience in medical employment.

MRCP Part 2 (UK) : The MRCP(UK) Part 2 written exam can be taken by physicians in training who have passed the MRCP(UK) Part 1 exam. It builds on the knowledge assessed in Part 1 and tests the acquisition of a representative sample of medical knowledge, skills and behaviour as specified in the UK Specialty Training Curriculum for Core Medical Training / Curriculum for Internal Medicine.
